Stig Widell, PE - Principal
Stig Widell graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. He has been part of the Sherman Engineering team since 2011 and took over operations upon Don Sherman's retirement at the end of 2022. Stig is licensed in Oregon and Washington and a current member of the Structural Engineers Association of Oregon. With experience in everything from decks to multi-story mixed-use buildings, he draws upon that knowledge to develop creative and economic solutions for your project's unique conditions. Outside of work, Stig enjoys taking family trips to go hiking, skiing or just relaxing at the beach.
Jeff Leiter - Associate
Jeff Leiter graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture. He has worked in the construction and design fields for 30 years and worked for several architectural and design build offices before joining Sherman Engineers in 2014. Jeff enjoys family time, martial arts training, golfing and motorcycles.
Don P. Sherman, Retired Consultant
Don Sherman received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University in Civil Engineering in 1989. After working for many years, Don started as a sole proprietor in 1998 and incorporated Sherman Engineering, Inc. in 2001. Don retired at the end of 2022 and is enjoying full-time golf, skiing and traveling.
James D. Meese - Design Engineer
James is an experienced engineer based in Portland, with over three decades of expertise in engineering and design. He specializes in condominiums, multi-family housing, and wood-framed homes, showcasing a proven record of excellence in problem-solving and attention to detail. James prides himself on being available to answer questions and ensuring projects move along seamlessly. He adopts a collaborative approach and has fostered strong relationships with his clients and City/County permitting jurisdictions.
Joining Sherman Engineering Inc. in July 2012, James continues to contribute his skills and expertise to the company. His years of industry experience, combined with his work across various companies, have provided him with a unique understanding of engineering and design in Oregon and Washington. During his downtime, you may find James outdoors snowboarding or mountain biking, or back in town practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Aaron Widell, Associate
Aaron joined Sherman Engineering as a Draftsman in 2018. His attention to detail, drafting skills and collaboration with the rest of the team are vital in the development of plans and details that are accurate and easy to follow. When Aaron is not drafting, he enjoys making music, painting and rock climbing.
Julia Sherman - Office Manager / Bookkeeper
Prior to Julia Sherman taking over day-to-day financial, personnel & management operations for the company in 2001, she worked in both the legal and real estate fields. Her experience in the legal field spans 13 years: (1) Thompson, Adams - a general practice law firm as a receptions/legal secretary; (2) Bullard law - an employment law firm as a legal secretary/assistant; and (3) Crispin & Associates - an employment law firm as a legal secretary/assistant/bookkeeper/office manager. Her work at Crispin launched her into the real estate field for over nine years as a licensed Realtor for Debbie Thomas Real Estate as office manager/assistant and commercial sales & leasing.
