Stig Widell, PE - Principal
Stig Widell graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. He has been part of the Sherman Engineering team since 2011 and took over operations upon Don Sherman's retirement at the end of 2022. Stig is licensed in Oregon and Washington and a current member of the Structural Engineers Association of Oregon. With experience in everything from decks to multi-story mixed-use buildings, he draws upon that knowledge to develop creative and economic solutions for your project's unique conditions. Outside of work, Stig enjoys taking family trips to go hiking, skiing or just relaxing at the beach.
Dane Hyatt, Associate
Dane is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. He joined the Sherman Engineering team in 2024. Dane brings valuable experience from his time with the EERI Seismic Design Team at OSU, as well as his studies abroad in Italy. He now applies his knowledge and strong team communication skills to engineering and design projects. Outside of work, Dane enjoys playing board games at the local game store and exploring new destinations through travel.
Don P. Sherman, Retired, Consultant
Don Sherman is the retired founder of Sherman Engineering, Inc., which he established in 2001. Known for his creative solutions and strong client relationships, Don built a firm that prioritized people and practical problem-solving. His leadership and expertise helped shape countless projects, earning the trust of clients and colleagues alike.
James D. Meese - Design Engineer
James is an experienced engineer based in Portland, with over three decades of expertise in engineering and design. He specializes in condominiums, multi-family housing, and wood-framed homes, showcasing a proven record of excellence in problem-solving and attention to detail. James prides himself on being available to answer questions and ensuring projects move along seamlessly. He adopts a collaborative approach and has fostered strong relationships with his clients and City/County permitting jurisdictions.
Joining Sherman Engineering Inc. in July 2012, James continues to contribute his skills and expertise to the company. His years of industry experience, combined with his work across various companies, have provided him with a unique understanding of engineering and design in Oregon and Washington. During his downtime, you may find James outdoors snowboarding or mountain biking, or back in town practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Aaron Widell, Associate
Aaron joined Sherman Engineering as a Draftsman in 2018. His attention to detail, drafting skills and collaboration with the rest of the team are vital in the development of plans and details that are accurate and easy to follow. When Aaron is not drafting, he enjoys making music, painting and rock climbing.
Maranda G Laskey - Office Administrator
Maranda Laskey, who joined Sherman Engineering in 2023, is a seasoned professional with over 7 years of experience in the banking/financial industry with Wells Fargo Bank, as well as 5 years in office administration in construction services. Her background in finance and office management has equipped her with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. She is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and streamlining operations to achieve success. In Maranda’s free time she enjoys the great outdoors, kayaking, and getting on a river to fish.
